Julián Hernández was born in Mexico City and graduated in film from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Among his previous works are the feature films A Thousand Clouds of Peace (2003), which won the Teddy Award at the Berlin International Film Festival, Raging Sun, Raging Sky, winner of the same award in 2009, and Broken Sky (2006). His four last features, all represented by The Open Reel, are I Am Happiness on Earth (2014), Tattoo of Revenge (2018), Asphalt Goddess (2019), and The Trace of Your Lips (2023).
